My Week With Marilyn and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy lead BAFTA nomination contenders

My Week With Marilyn, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy are leading the films longlisted for BAFTA nominations.

Both films have achieved 16 nods to be considered for nominations at the 2012 British Academy Film Awards.

The longlist, announced today, kicks off the first round of voting for the awards, which are held on February 12.

Critical acclaim: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, starring Gary Oldman, has also achieved 16 nods

The final shortlist of nominations that will go into competition on the night will be revealed on January 17.





Other films that feature prominently on the list are The Iron Lady, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, War Horse and The Help.

Michelle Williams, Meryl Streep, Tilda Swinton, Kate Winslet and Viola Davis have all landed on the Best Actress list.

Gary Oldman, Eddie Redmayne, Brad Pitt and George Clooney are among the Best Actor contenders.
