One Direction had a rare day off from screaming girls - as they headed off into the middle of a field.

The X Factor stars hired an iconic Volkswagen campervan for a day's filming in Shropshire.

During their day at the village near Anglesey, north Wales, Louis Tomlinson took control behind the wheel as floppy-haired Harry Styles hopped in the passenger seat beside him.

Fellow bandmates Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik looked stranded by the side of the road.

The trio appeared to be reading a map, before hitchhiking a lift with Louis and Harry.

The absence of female specimens can only be a good thing though, as Louis revealed they have not yet had to fight over one girl and they intend to keep it that way - or else the board games come out!

He told The Sun: 'I don't think we've been in that situation as of yet, but if it did happen we would have to fight it out with a mean game of Scrabble.

'We'd battle it out until the end. Or maybe a mean game of noughts and crosses.'

The 20-year-old, who is dating model Eleanor Calder, also said he has a strange way of wooing girls.

He added: 'I would do an intense version of It Wasn't Me by Shaggy on the violin.'

Niall said he would play the theme from Barney The Dinosaur on guitar, while Zayn would thrash out a rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the triangle.

Last Thursday, the boys suffered a nasty shock after they were involved in a car accident following a gig in Birmingham, leaving three members needing treatment for neck injuries.

Despite being advised to cancel their next gig in Plymouth, the quintet soldiered on to perform.
