Snake serum and bee venom may have been 2011's revolutionary beauty products but this year it's all about 'Dragon's Blood.'

Dubbed the ‘Liquid Facelift‘ Dragon’s Blood works by adding essential volume to hollow skin.

It promises to plump, sculpt and lift the complexion but it effectively protects against ageing, forming a skin-like film around the face for a dramatically more youthful complexion - without the needles.

The gel, which reduces skin sagging while boosts elasticity, is actually made from the red sap of the sangre de drago tree.

And Lady Gaga has allegedly been using the cream to prepare for the Golden Globes.

The controversial singer is the latest fan of the beauty product which carries the unusual name.

Before now the only way to counteract sagging skin was to inject fillers into the cheek to restore the original plumpness of the face.

This extreme procedure leads to the common problem known as 'pillow face', where the cheeks look 'inflated' and this can have the adverse effect of closing the eye, making them appear smaller.

A spokesman for Rodial said: 'With our new Dragon's Blood serum, women including our celebrity fans, are able to regain the youthful fullness in their face.

'Age, environmental damage and demanding lifestyles all take their toll and age us prematurely, with wrinkles and sagging skin around the eyes and cheeks being some of the first signs.'

Dragon's Blood is a natural alternative to the extremely popular Restylane injections.

Restylane is used to diminish wrinkles and ageing lines of the face.

Rodial's new Dragon's Blood, £75, alleviates the need for such cosmetic work as it plumps facial hollows and 'orbital troughs' under and around the eyes, as well as for cheek volume and contouring of the chin, forehead and nose.

Primary ingredient 'collageneer' stimulates and increases the natural collagen production and synthesis for smoother, plumper skin and during independent trials 92 per cent volunteers saw an increase in skin elasticity over three months.

72 per cent also experienced a reduction in skin sagging.

Results also showed their skin was dramatically defined and volumised with firmer skin and improved tonicity around the jaw line and cheek bones.
