She's a former heptathlon World champion, yet according to a new interview with Marie Claire, Jessica Ennis suffers from the same insecurities as any other woman.

The 26-year-old confessed that during her teens she 'wanted a figure like anyone else,' but 'as I've got older I've been able to see my body in a different way - it's a tool for the job.'

Being a champion athlete, Jessica's focus is naturally on being in the best possible shape to compete- but as a result she feels that her figure isn't especially feminine.

She chatted about her preparations for the Olympics, engagement to her boyfriend Andy Hill and the pressure to maintain her appearance.

Jessica looks stunning in the magazine's shoot, in which she shows off her incredible figure wearing some very revealing sportswear.

The athlete explained that though it isn't her ideal to be as muscular as she is, she accepts that being a certain shape is a necessity to perform as well as she does.

It appears that the sacrifice to her privacy has been worth it however, as the star continued: 'Athletics has been such a massive part of my life for so long. I can't imagine doing anything else at all really.'

Jessica spoke about her anticipation for the year ahead, saying: 'The Olympics is such a huge thing, but then you feel like the whole world is going to end afterwards.'

'I'm hoping there's been so much investment and time put into sport over the last few years that it will create a legacy beyond it.'

She revealed that her anxiety is heightening as the games draw closer, with her nerves and adrenaline soaring as she makes her final preparations.

Jessia is engaged to her boyfriend of seven years, construction site manager Andy Hill.

The pair attended the same school, but since Andy is three years older than the athlete they didn't meet properly until a chance encounter during an evening out in Sheffield- 'very romantic!' she joked.
