She’s made a point of donning her most feminine fashions ever since her latest movie, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, was released.
But Rooney Mara’s latest fashion statement has not helped her cause to appear all-woman as she bore a resemblance the film’s main character Elisabeth Sander in while out in New York today.
The actress – who made her name in The Social Network and 1984 horror flick A Nightmare On Elm Street – stepped out in the Big Apple donning boyish attire to match her budding director beau’s.

While Charles McDowell braved the cold weather in jeans, a hooded top and padded jacket, the 26-year-old looked equally as boyish in a her dark ensemble which featured striped scarf and biker boots.
The cute couple – who have been dating since the beginning of 2010 – even matched headgear, donning identical black beanie hats as they arrived at JFK airport.
McDowell, 28, who is the son of Clockwork Orange veteran Malcom, left his hat rolled down while his girlfriend rolled the rim up – although she would have been barely able to see with it covering her eyebrows.

In ways the fashion statement says more about their blossoming relationship than the fact that they moved into a $2 million mansion together in the Hollywood Hills last year.
Victoria and David Beckham, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake plus Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow are all among stars who have worn similar clothing in the past to prove their romance is getting serious.
Showing up with minimal luggage, the partners are expected to be jetting to Los Angeles in time for the Golden Globes – where Mara has been nominated for her role in movie taken from Stieg Larsson’s Millennium book series.

The star squeezed in some last minute shopping for the big event earlier on Wednesday as she was spotted strolling through the city in the same outfit as her man carried her buys.
Rooney recently told CBS News more about her nominated role.
‘I think she is so appealing because you don’t really know who she is and she’s sort of someone who can’t be defined. She can’t be put in a neat little box and that makes her very compelling for people. You never know what you’re going to get from her, she’s very unpredictable.
‘She’s extremely strong and fierce, but in that same moment she also has a lot of vulnerability and she has all these contradicting sides to her.’
