She has played a impressive and diverse range of characters across different time periods but it appears that playing the Victorian bride suits Dakota Fanning.
The 17-year-old actress slips into the role of a 19th century beauty with ease, a style which is a far cry from her laid back everyday look.
The star has been seen sporting several different period costumes shooting her new movie Effie in Venice, Italy.
My lady: Dakota Fanning was seen in her Victorian costume as she shot scenes for her film Effie on set
Inone shot Dakota is seen acting out a market scene with her co-stars while in another the group discuss the film with a member of crew.
Themodern bright yellow jacket looks incongruous with the Victorian set and provides a stark contrast to the actor's impressive costumes.
Quite the lady: The 17-year-old actress was seen acting out a market scene with Claudia Cardinale and Riccardo Scamarcio as they shot in Italy
Thefilm tells the story of the lead character, Euphemia 'Effie' Gray, and her relationship with her Victoria art critic husband.
Group discussion? The actresses and actor are seen having a discussion with a crew member who looks quite incongruous in his bright yellow jacket
And, action: In another shot the group are seen acting out a scene with intense concentration
Theactress has been seen on a number of occasions in period costume alongside 45-year-old co-star Greg Wise, who plays one of her love interests.
British actor Wise is married to Emma Thompson, who both wrote and stars in the period drama.
Refined: The actress
Who's that girl? With her long auburn locks Dakota Fanning was virtually unrecognisable on the set of her new film Effie in Venice, Italy, yesterday
Her hands were also hidden in leather mittens and a fur muff.
Despite the chilly conditions, Dakota appeared to be having a ball filming, dancing and beaming as she made her way around in the picturesque location.
Having a laugh: Despite the chilly conditions, the actress appeared to in high spirits
The same also went for British actor Wise who slipped a bulky puffer jacket over his dapper suit.
Dakota, who was earlier this year embroiled in controversy after her perfume advertisement for Marc Jacobs was banned in the UK for 'sexualising a child,' plays the tile character in the film.
It follows the tale of the disastrous marriage of artcritic John Ruskin (Wise) and his teenagewife Effie Gray.
Unlikely love interest: The teenage actress plays the title character, who is married to much older man John Ruskin, played by Greg Wise
Effie is driven into the arms of Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais, played by Sienna Miller's boyfriend Tom Sturridge, whenRuskin refuses to consummate the marriage.
Thompson, who won an Oscar for her screenplay of Sense and Sensibility, wrote the script for Effie, which has just been filming mainly in Scotland and London so far.The Love Actually actress has dismissed accusations that material was plagiarised from American writer Eve Pomerance.
Bonding: Dakota cuddled up with co-star and writer of the film, Emma Thompson and her husband Wise
She claims Wise kept the script, and then helped his wife on her new screenplay. Her lawyer Marc Lebowitz said: ‘He is Thompson’s husband, he assisted in writing the screenplay.
‘Wise was listed as the co-writer, [although] his name is no longer on the script, except as a researcher… She [Miss Pomerance] contacted Wise to congratulate him and to ask for a small acknowledgement. His reply was that it was an “original Emma Thompson screenplay”.’
Snug: The actress further kept herself warm from the plummeting temperatures by wrapping up in a red rug in between her scenes
But due to the similarities, her talks with a celebrated director came to an end.
Dakota is currently taking a break from college to film the movie.
Sister love: Dakota's younger sister Elle, 13, left, says that she misses her sister
'She is a nice older sister. But it's not like we always get along,' Elle shared about their typical sibling conflicts, but says that she missing Dakota now that they no longer live together.
'Now that she's going to college, it's different. I went into her room in California, and all her clothes were gone!
'Her closet was empty! I don't get to go in there and steal clothes anymore. It's really strange. It's sort of like she's off making a movie, but this time she's not coming back.'
Meanwhile, Dakota shared why she decided to enroll in college rather than just focusing 100% on her acting career.
'For the same reasons I wanted to go to a high school,' she said.
'You hear people say, 'Oh when I was in high school' or 'When I was in college.' That defines a lot of who people are, and I didn't want to miss out on that.'
But she says that she is not having the typical collegiate living situation and actually has her mother staying with her for a while as her roommate.
'She's teaching me how to wash clothes and such,' Dakota revealed. 'But I'm so excited to be on my own. In my house in L.A., we all feel that everything is everybody's and so doors are never really closed.
'My sister and I share a bathroom, and when you have a sibling, nothing is actually your own. I've never really had anything or any place that was just mine.'
Dakota added that she is trying to stay grounded despite becoming famous at such a young age.
