During the Christmas special of the reality TV show, fans saw him ask his long-term girlfriend if she would like to move in with him.

So it was hardly surprising that his Twitter announcement today that James 'Arg' Argent was going to become a father caused much excitement on the social networking page.

However, the TOWIE was soon quick to dispel the Tweet and deny the news, blaming friend Jack Tweed for hacking his account.

At about 10pm last night, a Tweet appeared on Arg's page that read: 'So happy iamgana be a dad.'

This prompted hundreds of his followers to Tweet their congratulations to him and girlfriend Lydia Bright, believing the news to be true.

Quick denial: Arg had to take to his Twitter page and twice deny his was to be a dad and said Jack Tweed had 'twaped' him

However, James was soon quick to take to his page and deny the news and wrote: '@JackTweed_ Is an idiot everyone and Twitter Raped me, I am so sorry to disappoint you but im not having a kid!'

But clearly no one believed him as James was once again forced to reiterate that it had just been a bad joke and wrote: 'I am NOT having a Kid, I repeat i am NOT having a kid!!! I got Twaped or whatever its called!'

James has known Tweed, who married the late Jade Goody, for a while as he is good friends with James's best friend Mark Wright.

Arg has been dating Lydia for a couple of years and during the TOWIE Christmas special he asked her to move in with him, which she happily said yes to.

But marriage is not on the cards for them just yet, as Arg believes they are still too young.

Speaking to new! magazine, he said: 'Not yet, no rush for that. Lydia’s only 20 and I’ve just turned 24.'

But he said he was looking forward to a cosy Christmas with his sweetheart and added: 'At the end of the day, I go back over to Lydia’s for mulled wine, sing some songs to the family and hopefully go to bed with Lydia for a kiss and a cuddle!'
