Bad weather may have temporarily put his skiing holiday on ice, but that wasn’t going to stop Prince Harry having fun.

He decided to amuse himself instead by throwing snowballs from a balcony at unsuspecting passers-by in the Swiss resort where he is staying.

The 27-year-old prince, who is third in line to the throne, ducked quickly to avoid detection after hurling each snowball on to the busy street below.

With a cigarette in one hand and a snowball in the other, the Army Air Corps helicopter pilot, who wore a grey hooded top, was beside himself with laughter as he and best friend Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip, 25, enjoyed their childish prank on the restaurant terrace of a boutique hotel.

An onlooker said: ‘They seemed to be having the time of their lives, giggling like schoolboys. I saw at least one snowball hit someone, but whenever people would look up to see where the missile had come from, they would hit the deck.’

Harry flew to Geneva on an easyJet flight on Thursday with a group of male friends for a New Year break, his first ski holiday since a family trip to Klosters in 2005.

But he was unable to hit the slopes yesterday after heavy snow, high winds and avalanche warnings shut the ski lifts.

On Thursday night he was spotted in one of the resort’s nightclubs, dancing energetically to house music and sharing a magnum of vodka and a magnum of champagne with his friends.

One reveller said: ‘There were girls flocking round his table throughout the night, and he didn’t seem to mind.’
