Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline is 'really happy' she has become engaged to Jason Trawick.
The 33-year-old told Australia's TV WEEK magazine: 'I'm really happy for her - I think he's a great guy.'
Kevin made the touching statement during a break from filming Nine Network reality program Excess Baggage in Sydney.
Excess Baggage: Kevin Federline arrived in Sydney in November to work on the Australian show, he was happy to her his ex's news there
He added: 'She's happy; she's doing really well. I want to say she's in a good place. I haven't spoken to her much since I've been over here, both of us have been busy with her being on tour, but I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids' teachers that they're doing really good.
It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her.'
Kevin and Britney, who just turned 30, have two sons, Sean, six, and Jayden, five, from their two-year marriage that ended in 2006.
Kevin has since welcomed a fifth child, daughter Jordan, with girlfriend Victoria Prince.
Happy news: Britney and Jason celebrated their birthday in Las Vegas on Friday night
Hands on: Jason has worked hard to build a relationship with the boys from the start, here they look like a family as far back as 2009
'I mean, Victoria's the best person in the world. It took me going through the things that I went through to find a person like her.
'She's more than I could ever have hoped for. Hopefully Britney feels the same way.'
And Kevin had nothing but praise for 40-year-old Trawick's abilities as a step-father.
'He's a really good guy, I've heard a lot about him,' Kevin revealed.

He also opened up about Britney's very public meltdown in 2007.
'It was tough. [They were] just very, very, very dramatic times,' Kevin admitted.
'I had to do what I had to do for the safety of our children. But at the same time, it tears my heart to pieces to watch your ex go through that, let alone watch anybody go through that.
'It's horrible. It was a completely dramatic, depressing stage of my life that I'm so glad I'm over and get to leave behind. It was tough.'
