The Queen opened up the doors of Buckingham Palace to the world's media last night to kick start her diamond jubilee celebrations.
Accompanied by close family including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke of Edinburgh, she met with 350 journalists and photographers.
The evening went swimmingly, which is not always the case when royalty and the media are in the same room.
Media darlings: The couple chatted happily with assembled guests from TV, radio and the Press

Kate, wearing a £1,400 emerald green Mulberry shirt dress with a peter pan collar, was - unsurprisingly - mobbed by representatives of women's fashion magazines and spoke about how nerve-wracking it was facing a room full of journalists.
Prince William also spoke animatedly about his job - on Sunday he was part of an RAF helicopter crew that dramatically saved two Russian seaman - and his passion for Africa.
Amongst the guests were broadcaster Andrew Marr, Radio Two presenter Chris Evans and This Morning host Phillip Schofield.
Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton later tweeted that Prince William had asked her to give him a 'shout out' on her morning show the following day.

Also on the guest list for the first time were some of the country's most prolific bloggers.
In their honour the palace's East Gallery was renamed the Tweet Suite for the night for those who wanted to post online messages about the event.
The space also contained displays about the Queen's Golden and Silver Jubilees.
Last night's reception was being held ahead of the Queen's 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebrations and will gave the monarch a chance to meet some of those who will be reporting on the milestone.
