A galaxy of music's finest stars graced the stage at the American Music Awards tonight.

But it wasn't talent or controversy that stole the show, it was a bizzare performance from David Hasselhoff which saw him strip down to his boxers to close the show.

The Baywatch favourite was seen strutting around the stage in the ridiculous outfit with LMFAO and Justin Bieber

The Britain's Got Talent judge stipped off his suit to reveal tight shorts with a smiley face on the front, the phrase 'don't judge me on the back,' and the look was topped off with a sleeveless T-shirt.
But he was not the only person who laughed it up with the joke outfit.
Teenage pop idol Justin Bieber also sang with them on stage, with the highlight of his outfit being a garish 'sexy and I know it T-shirt.'

It was Justin's second performance of the evening after he took to the stage to perform his track 'Under The Mistletoe' from his festive-themed album.
Bieber wasn't the only star to take to the stage twice tonight and Jennifer Lopez also gave two very different performances.
Her first was a raunchy set with rapper Pitbull who then went on to sing with her estranged husband Marc Anthony later in the show.

With the eyes of the nation at their mercy the cream of the music world were pulling out the stops steal the night in Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre.
The most eye-catching of the early acts was DJ David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, who opened the awards ceremony.

Nicki donned an eccentric robotic silver outfit, as they teamed up for a medley of their hits Turn Me On and Super Bass.
French fancy David made sure he was not ignored too, as he arrived on the stage in a DJ booth that was drenched in neon and beaming his name.

Selena Gomez clearly enjoyed their performance, and was seen singing along to the words.
She was equally excited when her beau Justin took to the stage after the high-tempo act.
Next up where country outfit the Band Perry who performed their midtempo tune If I Die Young.
The band took themselves more seriously than the flashier pop acts, and provided an interesting contrast to the previous stars.

But they delivered on the music front, with band leader Kimberly Perry showing off her impressive vocal range.

No doubt Mrs Russell Brand impressed her doubters by displaying the ability to play the guitar and sing at the same time.
Former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson was performing at the prestigious music event.
She donned a racy red dress as she up her glamour quotient significantly, and showed off her feminine side.

Kelly,29, certainly showed she had some old-fashioned musical sensibility as she performed Mr Know It All.

He's a mover: Chris Brown gave another display of his impressive dancing skills during his performance

She also resisted the urge to flash the flesh, instead performing in a classy white suit, which she topped off with just a hint of bling through her spectacular diamond earrings.
Chris Brown was also in the mood to show off his talent.
He gave a fine display of his prodigious dancing during a performance of All Back.
Unfortunately his singing during the less-than-thrilling ballad was not quite up to the same standard as his footwork.

However she did not say anything before, during or after the performance about expecting a new bundle of joy, which suggests she may just be struggling with her weight.
