Ted Williams, homeless man with 'golden voice,' may take job with Cavs

Cleveland, Ohio -- OK, put your ears right up next to the computer. Ready? Good, here we go:

Laaaaaaadies and gentlemeeeeeeennnnnnn, bask in the dulcet tones of formerly homeless guy Ted Williams' sonorous voice as you get ready to watch  YOOOOOOURRRR CLEEEEEEVELAND CAVALIEEEEEEEERSSSSSS.

Well, maybe. And maybe not, despite his promise on "Good Morning America" today to take the job with with the Cavs.

Phyllis Salem, a spokeswoman for the Cavs and The Q, said that while an offer for employment and assistance with housing has been extended to Williams, who became an internet sensation after a Columbus Dispatch story and video went viral earlier this week, he hasn't responded.

Salem said that even if Williams does accept the post -- which he did on TV's "Good Morning America" today, but not in any official capacity with the Cavs -- he won't be replacing anybody currently on staff.

"At this point we've made a general offer of employment and would plan to have him utilize his 'voice' for commercials on the Web, TV and radio and with the Cavs game entertainment team in some capacity (although NOT displacing any member of our current award winning game presentation team, including our current PA announcer and on-court host!)," Salem said in an email.

"All of this not only with the Cavs, but with Quicken Loans and perhaps other members of the Dan Gilbert family of companies and endeavors (i.e. Fathead, etc.)," Salem wrote.

Hmmm. Did anybody talk to Byron Scott? Sure, Williams is 52, and probably has lost a step, but he looks kinda tall. Maybe he can fill the paint and block out.
