Carol Vorderman couldn't hide her pride last night as she tweeted that her 19-year-old daughter had been offered a place at Cambridge University to read Physics.
The former Countdown presenter, who has made a career for herself thanks to her mathematical mind, said she was having a 'golden golden evening' celebrating with her stunning teenager Katie.
She wrote: 'Daughter Katie has just been offered a place at Cambridge to read Physics.Hard working girl.'

Vorderman then added that Katie had turned down various media offers in favour of continuing her education.

She tweeted: 'She not interested in media in spite of very many lucrative offers. Wise head. Four A levels at A* grade in hard subjects. Am I allowed a night of being a v proud Mum? X '
In fact, the four A-Levels Katie got A star grades in were double-maths, physics and chemistry.
Vorderman, 50, then later added: 'Overwhelmed by all yr immense kindnesses. Thank you so much. We're still whooping it may be time for a Midnight Margherita? X'
While Katie has shunned the chance to become a celebrity in her own right, she did make an appearance on the red carpet with her famous mother at the Pride of Britain Awards last year.
Katie, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Vorderman, still lives with her at the family home in Bristol.
The teenager chose a short, one-shoulder silver dress with a flowing train to wear to the even, pairing the gown with strappy platform stilettos.
The 5ft 9ins teenager was born at the height of her mother’s fame.
Vorderman has told how she went from a size 8 to a size 14 after having Katie at aged 30.
‘I felt frumpy,’ she says. ‘I was always trying to cover my bum and thick waist.
‘As a working mum, my overriding memory of the Nineties was exhaustion.’
